It never ceases to amaze me that my home can be heated by a handful of continuous burning wood pellets!

Super compressed sawdust is all that they are – with the natural lignin in the wood acting as a glue to stick them together. Because they are small and uniform in size (6mm diameter and up to 3cm long) they are easy to move around. Augers or vacuum systems take them from store to boiler whenever the boiler needs fuel.

They are also the most compact form of wood fuel – a store measuring 3m x 3m x 2.4m can hold enough fuel to keep most homes warm for a whole year.

They even smell nice!

They can also be blown along a pipe – so can be delivered just like your oil or gas supply.
